NATE, Senior Software Engineer
BS in Computer Science
Worcester Polytechnic Institute

“I really enjoy the instant feedback we get on new features and fixes, the communications makes it much easier to make a product that users want to use.” |
A self-confessed übergeek, Nate recently moved from the UI team to the Core Development team, and is Tamale's go-to man for most aspects of our Microsoft plug-ins. He's also into just about every geeky hobby there is! |

Q: |
What is your favorite part of your job at Tamale? |
A: |
I really love seeing something I created with my own head and hands getting used and appreciated by other people, whether they be our clients or my fellow developers.

Q: |
What do you tell friends and family who ask what you do? |
A: |
I tell those who ask me that I'm a software engineer, and Tamale Software creates and improves information management software for hedge funds.

Q: |
What do you love to do outside of work? |
A: |
Picking one hobby is really difficult, but pretty much if you can think of a geeky hobby, I do it from role-playing games, to video games, to building computers. My one major non-traditional geeky hobby is cycling. I try to bike into work as often as I can during the warmer months.

What makes you proud to work at Tamale? |
A: |
Choosing just one thing is hard, but I did have a lot of fun extending our plugin architecture to include Office 2007, which totally reworked how plugins were managed in Office. I also think we have a really fantastic group of people at Tamale not just the programmers, but also Client Services people, the QA team, the business team ... everyone.

What are some of your favorite outings in Boston? |
A: |
My favorite place to eat is Taiwan Café in Chinatown, which has really great authentic Taiwanese cuisine. I also favor Diesel Café in Davis Square for its fantastic atmosphere, great coffee, and inexpensive pool tables.
